Cheer Portraits & Media Day Prep

Group of cheerleaders in black and white uniforms posing together outdoors on a sunny day.

CHEER PHOTO DAYS REQUIRE A DIFFERENT PREP AND STYLING COMPARED TO GAME DAYS AND COMP. HERE are some prep tips:

Uniforms

Wear your favorite uniform and cleanest pair of cheer shoes. You can easily get multiple looks during your shoot by swapping out your Phantoms for boots or going barefoot. Your bloomers are likely to show even just a little bit, so choose them wisely!

Hair

I recommend styling your hair down for these photos, but you may choose a half-up style or even a classic ponytail with your bow – it's up to you!

If your session is a team/group session, decide together if you want to all have the same hair style or let everyone do something different.

Makeup

Choose your level of glam! I always recommend a polished and professional makeup application for any portrait session, and I can recommend a couple makeup artists that you could book for this. I do not recommend red lips for this, unless your whole face of makeup is also done, and your lip color is applied properly with lines are straight and even. It could be fun to add some team spirit glitter or colored "eye black", etc, for a few shots.

Props & Accessories

Poms are an obvious choice! If you need to borrow some, I own white, royal blue, and silver poms. If you want to purchase a brand new pair of your own, I can also recommend a couple of websites with really affordable poms. Megaphones and signs are also fun, as well as any medals and jackets you might want to display.

I can't wait for your session!

Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any other questions about preparing for your session.
